Collaboration with BCcampus and Vretta a Monthly Highlight for Campus Manitoba
The Manitoba Open Textbook Initiative and Campus Manitoba are pleased to announce that they have entered into a monthly collaboration with Lauri Aesoph, Manager of Open Education at BCcampus, and representatives from Vretta, an ed-tech company committed to “providing unparalleled educational resources [to] transform the learning and assessment experience for thousands of students.”
BCcampus and Vretta fostered their partnership in October of 2019, meeting monthly to discuss Vretta’s distribution of hard-cover Open Educational Resources (OERs) from the OpenStax collection, to Canadian post-secondary institutions. As a result of this work, post-secondary faculties now have an additional avenue to access OpenStax materials. Further, Vretta has taken a prominent role in advocating for Open Education across Canada.
These discussions continue once a month, to chart Vretta’s advocacy for OERs in post-secondary teaching and learning, and serve as a sort of pan-Canadian touch-base on all things Open.
Carley McDougall, Open Education Lead and Special Projects Coordinator at Campus Manitoba, says, “We are delighted to take part in the monthly collaboration with BCcampus and Vretta. It provides us the space to hear what is going on outside our province and discuss the momentum within Manitoba. We also see it as an excellent learning opportunity and an avenue to discuss future collaborations.”
